Glass, Hildebrando Villarreal Febrero 11, 2004 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - Great!Purchased the book as in very good condition and it looked excatly how it was descibed, if not even better. Looked new and recieved much quicker than expected. Evaluación: - Good book but a little too Pricey.I am currently using this book for my Spanish 1 and 2 class and it is a help especially the dictionary in the back! I would def recommend getting the lab manual and the workbook with it though because if you are new to the spanish language it can be very difficult to keep up and practice makes all the difference. The book alone is great however the price is a little ridiculous! Especially since spanish varies in every country so some parts of the book are inconsistant with what we are taught and also their are words spelt incorrectly throughout the book. My professor is constantly correcting it. Evaluación: - Not perfect, but pretty darn goodThis textbook has been excellent in my university classroom. I love the presentation of the material, the matching of grammar with the thematic vocabulary, and the ease of finding topics within the book. It's not perfect--as I don't think any textbook is--but it is definately very good. I have enjoyed teaching from it, although naturally I don't do all of the activities in the book; I pick and choose the ones that I will use in class, and come up with some of my own, creative activities. (Although as a side note, I don't think any teacher should use 100% book activities!) Evaluación: - Horrible textbookThis is a horrible textbook to use for teaching an online course. My school uses it, and even after 2 years of Spanish in high school, the material is just way to far out there for most students to grasp easily. It starts out assuming a proficiency with Spanish words and sentence structure. The online portion is done at a normal conversation pace for native Spanish speakers, which is far too fast for this level of textbook. There is no way to slow down, or show textually what is being said on most of these online exercises. The book is the equivalent of dropping you in the middle of Spain and saying "Figure it out". I've self taught myself far more difficult languages with less trouble than this book is giving me. Evaluación: - What a deal!My daughter's school only sold the materials she needed for her Spanish class as a set over 250.00. We were thrilled that we could order the materials separately at a decent savings! Good news! 2.

Evaluación: - Fast ServiceBook was as represented and arrived very fast. I got it on the day that Amazon said it shipped. Thanks! Evaluación: - Waited too longIt took forever to get this book, even though it was in good condition I think i paid wayy too much for it. Evaluación: - This seller did an excellent job. This seller was excellent. The item hipped relatively fast and arrived in described condition. I would definitely buy from this seller again. Evaluación: - Missing Required Item Included with TextbookI ordered this brand new, latest addition textbook directly from Amazon (no reseller). The Dos mundos textbook arrived but was missing Quia(tm) (McGraw-Hill single log-in authentication for students). Since the Quia log-in authentication info is missing and it is required in order to access on-line information, the textbook is worthless for my class. I have sent 2 emails to Amazon with no response. This is very poor customer service! 3.

por: Maria Canteli Dominicis, John J. Reynolds Abril 29, 1987 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - Great value!I was very happy to see that the book was in very good condition with only one or two pages with light writing in pencil and a very nice cover. The seller was very involved in the sending process and sent me emails confirming it was sent and that it was recieved by me. Evaluación: - Weird vocabThis book does spell out the rules of speaking Spanish quite well, but the vocabulary in the stories is really regional - so much so that sometimes the words aren't even in my Spanish-English dictionary. I suppose this is to be expected but it makes reading the stories a little difficult, and I didn't have this problem in a previous Spanish textbook. This book also occasionally has vosotros things even in assignments, etc, and I'm not really familiar with that form at all - it's not hard to guess though. Evaluación: - Repase y Escriba WorkbookThough the seller did say there was some writing, the book actually had few pages without writing. It also had some pages torn out. The book itself I'm sure has some worth but I haven't been able to use it. Evaluación: - better than advertisedthis book arrived in great condition - better than advertised. would recommend this seller to anyone. Evaluación: - Good grammar bookIt didn't get here as fast as other things that I have bought on Amazon, but it has been a good book for my class at the university. 4.

Arrived earlier than expected and in great condition. Even some helpful annotations. Evaluación: - Quick & efficientI received my book quicker than I even expected. I'm a student who orders textbooks online to save money, and usually you have to sacrifice the first week of school work to wait for the shipping. This was not the case on this book. Was in great shape. I would definitely recommend using these guys. Evaluación: - It's a good book for spanish classThe short stories are great and it explains the literary movements in Spanish literature. I highly recommend this book for school use or light reading. Just make sure you have a dictionary handy if you're not a native speaker. Evaluación: - I typed in the ISBN number to search for the book, and they gave me the wrong editionI typed in the ISBN number originally, in order to search for the book. I then clicked on used books, and then they sent me the wrong edition of the book! Evaluación: - Good, thorough, and not too difficult overview of Spanish literature. This is my textbook for a Spanish literature overview class, and so far we have just gone straight through it and not required any extra materials. It is very thorough and gives a good overview in the limited space it is able to have. My one criticism would be that the informational sections feel too long and boring and needlessly detailed when it gets into long lists of literary terms, etc. Overall a good book, though. 5.

I guarantee the "light bulb" will go off...Awesome book! Evaluación: - An interesting one to skimThis was a decent book, I bought it because it was recommended in the 4 Hour Work Week. It's pretty dated, and it gets a bit tedious. It would be worth skimming though, it does have some decent ideas. Very speedy, as usual with Amazon. The book was well-packaged (shrink wrapped), and arrived in perfect condition. I can't tell anything about the contents of the work book, since my son hasn't started using it yet. Evaluación: - Not for self-instructionAs long as this book is used in a classroom environment led by a fluent spanish speaking instructor, it's quite a good textbook. It has terrific glosseries in the back. I gave 2 stars simply because there's no way you could utilize the book in a self-study environment. Evaluación: - Avoid at all costs!!I am a native speaker. I have a degree in linguistics. I have taught French, English and Spanish. I have been teaching Spanish in high school for the last 4 years. Unfortunately, I've had the "pleasure" of working with this book. My biggest problem with this book is that the authors assume students will learn the way they did. They rely heavily on deductive learning, which is a critical thinking skill not present in the majority of students. Kids are presented with a lot of information and then, they are supposed to answer questions. How if they didn't even have an idea of what is going on? Many of the exercises don't have a clear purpose, as demonstrated by the following -and I quote from the Teacher's book- "When students are doing the activities, accept any answer that makes sense. The purpose is to have students use the new vocabulary, not to recall facts" This makes my students really anxious because they don't know what's expected from them. Gifted students find the exercises ... Leer Más Evaluación: - Very Good ServiceI liked to do business with Amazon because all the items were delivered on time. I will do it again and again. It contains tidbits of cultural information throught the book. My only complaint is the Web Site Access. However, as a college course book, I think it's weak. It's probably great for high school, but I found the book to be relatively easy and leisurely. If that's what you want, then this book is for you. 10.
EMMA (Spanish Edition)
por: Jane Austen Noviembre 10, 2008 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - Great novelThank you for the quick shipment! The novel is in great condition and will be a nice edition to my library. Evaluación: - A Wonderful and Light Austen Read!I have always loved "Sense and Sensibility" and wanted to expand into more of Austen's works. This one did not disappoint! It is a fantastic tale with all the usual Austen humor and wittiness that work so well in her stories! In fact, it is now up there with "Sense" as my favorite Austen work! "Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition, seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence; and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her." The first sentence in the novel really sets the stage for all the mistakes the main character makes throughout! This novel tells the story of Emma Woodhouse, a privileged young lady who, with nothing else to occupy her time, loves matchmaking among her friends. She loves it so much that she doesn't pay any attention to her true love right under her nose! Of course things don't go the way Emma would like and there are the usual misunderstandings ... Leer Más Evaluación: - Emma means well, but...***spoiler alert *** I didn't expect to like this book, because lots of readers usually mention how annoying and meddlesome Emma Woodhouse is. But I liked Emma. There's no anxious, annoying mother trying to marry off all of her daughters, because, unlike a lot of Austen heroines, Emma doesn't have to worry about marrying for money or marrying at all. She's already rich and happy and has a big house of her own. She's independent. Sure she meddles and gossips and is really bad at matchmaking, but she does all this wit...more I didn't expect to like this book, because lots of readers usually mention how annoying and meddlesome Emma Woodhouse is. Leer Más Evaluación: - Emma--another entertaining Austen soap operaIf you liked Pride and Prejudice, this will probably amuse you, but it's not quite as memorable. The characters are hilarious and the plot twist rather unpredictable. I enjoyed it a great deal. Evaluación: - ExquisiteJane Austen's Emma was published in December 1815, when she was forty years old (just 19 months before she died). It is thus a work of her mature period, and is something of a favorite among her devotees. My admiration of Austen's work is partly for her insight into human nature but also for the sheer beauty of her prose. It has a poetic texture. Her sentences can be long and complex, with some confusion of pronouns, so that they need to be lingered on, their sense teased out of them, until their structure and meaning is revealed, exactly as one would do with poetry. The effect is immensely satisfying. She spends almost no time on descriptions of place, but when she does she shows herself capable of describing a scene succinctly and effectively. Her main focus is on character. She describes her characters and their motivation at length, and reveals them through dialogue. This emphasis on dialogue makes her work eminently suitable for dramatization, so it is no surprise ... Leer Más |
