History and science never provided proof that Christ even existed and I see people arguing here whether he resurrected!?

I do not think Jesus existed to begin with, we have lot's of proves of Pharaohs, Persians, many Mediterranean civilizations, Hindu kingdoms all of them thousands of years before Christ and still, absolutely no evidence of Christ's existence.

Please, just do not tell me Bible proves something, it's just a funny religious book as any other.

That being said, I am not some aggressive atheist, I just love the truth more than brainwashing & dogma.

"Hamlet" doesn't need any introduction -- the tortured Dane, the ghost, meditations on suicide and a climax full of death. "Hamlet" is for everybody, but not for everybody to enjoy equally. The sad truth is I am one of those who have come, through some application, to feel real appreciation for the play, yet never loved it. The fault is mine and not Shakespeare's, but it is an honest fault worth exploring.

The story is pretty straightforward on its face. The king of Denmark has died, and as his son Hamlet fights overwhelming grief, he comes to discover the father died at the hand of his successor, Hamlet's uncle Claudius. As he contemplates the enormity of this knowledge, he wrestles with the fact his friends and court advisors are in league with the uncle. Even Hamlet's mother has compromised her connection with him by marrying Claudius soon after being widowed. Through all this turmoil a cosmic consciousness slowly emerges in young Hamlet.

Just so all of you are aware, Shakespeare was not in the practice of writing "books". He was a playwright, so when you go ahead and say that this "book" was boring, or hard to follow, make sure you realize that what you have in front of you is dialogue never intended to be read by the public, but only seen on stage. This gives the words more power and more accessibility. If someone reads you the To Be or Not To Be soliloquy aloud, you will understand it far better than a first glance at the text.

I would simply state that for many in this day and age, reading Hamlet is a very difficult undertaking. We are not trained in this language, and can hardly tie our attentions down for a 10 line speech, let alone the so-called "ranting" discourses that take place in this play. This does not make the material worse, it makes us inferior to the text. Evaluación: - Another excellent Oxford World's Classics edition
Note that this review refers to the Oxford World's Classics edition of Hamlet. Amazon does a really terrible job of sorting out which editions of Shakespeare plays are the same and which are different, so this review will almost certainly be referred where it does not belong.

This edition, like most of the Oxford World's Classics Shakespeare editions, is outstanding. The introduction is a good solid read and the editor is a very good writer (a quality which, though often overlooked, really makes or breaks an annotated edition). His references and notes are keen and illuminating and occasionally betray a wry sense of humour. Plenty of room in the margins for notes, as I found out taking a ridiculously intense seminar on this play and Joyce's Ulysses this semester. This play is truly Shakespeare's masterpiece, and this edition eminently does it justice.

The description of the book said that it was used, but in near-new condition with no markings. It was a bit worn and there was writing and highlighting throughout most of the play. Then again for four dollars what can one expect? I needed a book and thats what i got.

I read this book because of friend of mine suggested it was a great read. Based on the title I had no idea it was fiction.
I quickly figured that out during the first chapter and just adjusted my frame of mind.
The conversations that take place are hard to read because they are so overly descriptive and the characters drone on and on. The main character still doesn't seem to grasp any of these insights and comes across as an idiot.
Ugh, It took me over two weeks to read this becuase I had to force myself to pick it up.
I don't understand why it is such popular book but I certainly do not recommend you waste your time.

In a sense, the Catechism pre-dates the New Testament. The first followers already knew the events described in the Gospels and Acts either firsthand or from word of mouth, before they were recorded. I've never read the Narnia series beyond Prince Caspian so I'm having fun going through these. Having recently read some of Lewis's other works, it's fun to compare those with this fantasy series and see the similar themes, language and thought structures.

As to the series, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is different from Caspian and Wardrobe in a couple of ways. First, as was indicated at the end of Caspian, only 2 of the Penvensies are on this trip...although they do bring along another Earthling, their cousin. I felt myself missing Peter and Susan at times (and sometimes wishing I could trade out Eustace for one or both of them) but at the same time, I was growing somewhat annoyed at Peter and it was refreshing to have Eustace there and see his growth from whining cynic to helpful adventurer. It was also fun to see two central characters return from the previous novel...having Caspian (now king) and Reepicheep there added to the familiarity and camaraderie of the voyage.

But for the rest of the book you need to read the adventurous and loving middle to the end. but in the end it does say that two very important People(A king and queen) must never come back. but understand this if you read the rest of the book then you will know that Asln said " this is not the last time you see me. it will be the last time in narnia where you see me. but in another world you must learn my diffrent name and side of me........

I first tried to read the Narnia books back when I was a little squid, maybe six or seven years old. I had gotten The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as a part of a six-book set and devoured it (it was second of the six in my affections only to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Back then, the books were still in "classic" order, so the second of the lot was Prince Caspian, and I ate that one up, too. Then came The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I can't remember how far I made it through, but this was the book that caused me to give up on the series for thirty-odd years. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader takes the reader back into the world of Narnia, the ocean east of Narnia anyway. We meet Prince Caspian on a sea voyage to the East in search of seven noble men who, having been sent there by Caspian's now deceased evil uncle, Miraz, never returned. Lucy and Edmond along with a new character to the Chronicles, their cousin, Eustice, sail along for the ride. Along the way they encounter lands with mysterious inhabitants, dangerous creatures, and staggering beauty. I found this episode of the Chronicles of Narnia to be one of my favorites so far. The return of Edmund, Lucy, Caspian, and especially Reepicheep is a welcome reunion. The new human character here adds both humor and depth to the story and I enjoyed the development of this character. The Christian allegory continues strongly here with many scenes which will no doubt stick in my mind for a long time to come. The ending is especially good. The authors describe 11 personality traits and 9 interpersonal traits of unsafe people. As you are reading about these unsafe people traits, you also learn what safe people are like. I bought this book because I was drawn by the Topic. I read a few reviews before, just to see what others thought of it.
I am overly impressed with the Author. The story of Peter walking on the water is not new to me, but John has taken this story, and has brought it into our everyday situation.
We all desire to do great things in God, and would love to walk on water. However, we fail to leave the boat for many reasons.Fear of failure, lack of trusting God, or because we are afraid to leave our comfort zone. The Author has really challenged me to step out in faith. I hope this book will meet you at your point of need.

I loved this book, and it couldn't have come at more perfect timing in my life! I have often felt inadequate in just about everything I do. My relationships, my job, you name it, I always feel like I'm not good enough. I am afraid of failure. However, the chapter about "seeing the wind" and learning about failure management -- and learning from failure itself -- really made me see that there is no point in worrying about it. Everything in life has risks, and the only true failure is being a "boat potato!"

I also really liked John Ortberg's writing style. It is light and entertaining and he has a great sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud several times during the course of this book. "I may be small potatoes, Lord, but this spud's for you!"

In addition, he also provides questions for reflection at the end of each chapter. I imagine that would make this book perfect for a small group study. However, they are also good for personal reflection as well.

Don't make the mistake of overlooking this book by saying, "Oh, that's about sales and I'm not in sales, so it's not for me." This book is for everyone. THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD by Og Mandino is really as much about having a successful life as it is about salesmanship. In fact, you won't find any sales techniques to follow. You will find life lessons to follow.

Many people will say this book has too many similarities to several others such as George Classen's "Richest Man In Babylon" or Terry Fleber's "The Monk and the Merchant" or even the more modern "Traveller's Gift" by Andy Andrews. Well, I suppose you can draw similarities to just about anything but that doesn't mean you should even consider overlooking the valuable life lessons contain in this tiny book.

I've read the book several times over the last couple of decades but have never done exactely as the book instructs and that is to devote a month to each lesson. I'm sure if I did so, the results would be phenominal. ... Leer Más
