por: Virginia Lee Burton Setiembre 27, 1999 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - A classic you can't knock off its pedestal (or out of its cellar!)Seventy years after it was first published, this is still one of the first books you should buy for your child. Virginia Lee Burton's classic offers both colorful charcoal sketches and a story that is as relevant today as it was in 1939. After all, every town has a local government official full of thrift and self-importance; machinery is continually being obsoleted even though it still does the job; and children often have the most incisive insight of all! Also by Virginia Lee Burton: The Little House, addressing another side effect of technological innovation: urban sprawl. And for more *about* her, see Virginia Lee Burton: A Life in Art Evaluación: - How can you NOT buy this book???It's a classic, and my son loves this books sooooo much. I suggest actually buying the complete set in a hardbound cover - you get Katy the snowplow, The Little House, and this book, plus more...Mike Mulligan and More: Four Classic Stories by Virginia Lee Burton Evaluación: - An eternal classic for children (but too complicated for baby's first book).MIKE MULLIGAN AND HIS STEAM SHOVEL by Virginia Lee Burton is 44 pages long, with a color drawing on each page, apparently made using colored pencils on slightly rough artists' paper. The style of drawing is somewhat like that of famed Chicago artist, Roger Brown, in that landscapes are stylized so that hills occur in a repeating pattern or motif. Virginia Lee Burton's other books actually utilize this style moreso than this book. A special delight in this book are the various qualities of steam and smoke. These come from ships, steam shovels, trains, chimneys of houses, clouds in the sky, dust from the ground, a fire engine, and tobacco in a pipe. The story begins like this: "Mike Mulligan had a steam shovel, a beautiful red steam shovel. Her name was May Anne . . . she could dig as much in a day as a hundred men could dig in a week." Mary Anne is shown digging canals, railroad beds in the mountains, roadbeds in town, airports, and the cellar for ... Buenas noches, luna
por: Margaret Wise Brown Agosto 02, 1996 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - Awkward translationIt's nice that this book is available in Spanish; however, I find the choice of wording and the translation in Spanish rather awkward. I'd prefer a translation that used simpler wording and flowed more readily off the tongue. After all, this is a children's book. Evaluación: - Nice bookI really like the book. I have the English version, which is a classic, so I bought the Spanish version which is acceptable. Evaluación: - Soothing bedtime storyAs the little rabbit goes to sleep, he wishes a good night to everything he sees - from the mittens hanging out to dry to the playful cats, his comb and brush, and of course, the moon. The words have a soothing rhythm and the rabbit's room gets darker as one moves through the book. Nightime is falling and it's time for bed. Recommended for bedtime reading. Evaluación: - Very nice bookGreat for learning spanish since my son knows the english version so well. It is identical but in spanish. Evaluación: - No substitute for the original / no es buen sustituto por el originalLook, this book is a classic in its original English version; its rhymes are central to its greatness and are unequalled in translation. Though the Spanish version is not defective, it just does not have the same charm that the rhymes have in the original. Get this book in English, and choose books translated into Spanish whose text are not central to their enjoyment (e.g., Buenas noches, Gorila), or choose books originally written by Spanish language authors. 3.

Evaluación: - Matthew VideoBought this product to replace one borrowed from a friend which was damaged by my DVD player, so didn't open the package or view the video. I have this movie in VHS, and really appreciate the way Jesus is portrayed as a happy, gentle, sometimes playful person, but when teaching or rebuke is necessary, He is serious and/or sorrowful. It is an excellent portrayal of the loving, gentle Shepherd and a God of justice. It is very true to the Bible description of the book of Matthew, and all of the dialog is straight out of the Bible--nothing added or deleted. Evaluación: - MatthewThe actor-if you can call him that- Bruce Marcianno, is HORRIBLE ruins the whole gospel. He is like a Jesus on LSD. His imitation of Jesus is blasphemous. Can't recommend any film that has him in it to my unsaved friends or family. Shame they did not use the same cast as the gospel of John. Evaluación: - Best of the Bible Movies! The Visual Bible - Matthew is a superb production. Using the actual Biblical text as the script, there is no tendency to restate the content. The text is the script. Bruce Marchiano's portrayal of Jesus is inspired. You will never be the same. Evaluación: - JOY!Very well done. This is a great veiw of how Jesus and the people at His time reacted to him. When He healed, people were thrilled and happy and reacted to His strength and power. Also reveiled how disapointed Jesus is when we don't obey him, He is very saddened and weeps. Glad we bought it and are passing it around to our friends. Be ware, it is 4 hours long but is so interesting it goes by fast. 4.

Evaluación: - A story everyone should knowThis is a tragic and moving story. Told from the perspective of all four sisters, the story is easy to follow. Everyone should know this story, but it is sad that atrocities like these are not known outside of the Caribbean by many people. Julia Alvarez is an amazing writer and the way she put this story together blew my mind. A must have. Evaluación: - Great!Delivery was super speedy! The product was exactly as the seller described! I would definitely do business with them again! Evaluación: - Satisfactory transactionThe product was as I expected it to be according to the product description. Very satisfied. 5.
El Tunel = The Tunnel (Spanish Edition)
por: Ernesto Sabato 2004-07 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - My tunnel dark and lonelyAs a resident in Argentina, I have learned that the Argentine dream comes true for someone who lives a good life in or around Buenos Aires, drives a European car, speaks English, travels to Europe and/or to the United States, and works for an international company. Hence Argentina, a nation built on immigrants and with a strong culture, has never developed a strong national identity. A friend of mine, studying here for her doctorate in counseling, commented recently that her time is spent studying French theories. France is what I had in mind as I read Ernesto Sábato's El túnel (The Tunnel), which describes the descent and fall of Juan Pablo Castel, a noted Argentine painter who becomes addicted to María Iribarne, the only person he feels understands what his work really means. Castel does not love, can not love, will not love, and only briefly, at times, rises above his own demons to experience lucidity and the fresh air of common sense. His soul cannot be touched, and his ... Leer Más Evaluación: - A very intriguing novelFirst of all this was the first novel I have read by Ernesto Sabato and it has left me with a great impression of his writing style. It is very intriguing from the get go as one learns the outcome of the novel first and then the story develops afterwards. The protagonist Juan is a reclusive painter striving for acknowledgement. Maria becomes an obsession since she is the only one who can understand his work. His passion, obsession and desesperation leads him to kill Maria and gives the readers insight to his "tunel" (his torchered inner soul). The only other novel that I read along these lines in terms of uniqueness of plot and intrigue was L'entranger by Albert Camus. Definitely they are both one of kind novels. A recommended read. Evaluación: - Watch this cult novel !In every case there was a dark asnd loney tunnel : mine! That is the initial premise who will open you the gate to get in in the complex world of Martell and Maria . The deeep influence this book has had since its first release has reached to Milan Kundera . The complex and dramatic circumstances which involves the disturbed and introspective character of Martell is written with in a perfect style and it has not any to envy to the best works of Edgar Allan Poe or Guy de Maupassant . Ernesto Sabato , Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortazar conform the gloriuous trilogy of Argentine writers in the XX Century. Evaluación: - One of a kindThis is the only piece of fiction I have read that has grabbed me to the point that 'I could not put it down'. Juan Pablo Castel is obviously insane ---- but then why do I keep reading his confession? This is 115 pages and it just does not stop. Don't bother trying to categorize this work. It is one of a kind. Evaluación: - A must-read book!!It is amazing how the aothor make you keep on reading inspit of telling you the end of the book in the first line. You have to read it!! 7.

por: Eric Carle 1992 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - NOT HARD COVERReturned it as soon as I got it. This book is NOT a hard cover book. Evaluación: - Great book!!!!!! My Son loves it!!!!This spanish version is very good, I even like it better than the english one. My 18 months old son absolutely loves this book and enjoys putting his fingers in the holes that are inside. Really good book!!!! Evaluación: - Always greatAs an elementary school Spanish teacher this book is a lifesaver. While I found some of the translations slightly unusual it is a great way to use childrens literature to teach many subjects in Spanish. Since it is a favorite of all children and so well known the book is easily understood and can teach number, colors, days of the week, and the life cycle of a caterpillar. 8.
por: John Gray Junio 25, 1996 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - Excelent bookIf you have experienced issues with your couple, here in this book you can understand how to minimize them. I recomend thi one for all people that wants to improve their marriage. Evaluación: - Los Hombres son de marte, las Mujeres de Venusit was a Great Audiobook, just like i expected. The product was in Great condition as well. Leanlo, no seran decepcionados. I read it, and it was so good... Now I understand more... 9.
El simbolo perdido / The Lost Symbol (Spanish Edition)
Evaluación: - NO COMO LOS DEL AUTORSI BUSCA ALGO PARECIDO A LOS ANTERIORES NO LEAS ESTE LIBRO ,IGUAL CONTIENE BUENA CANTIDAD DE MISTERIO EN TERMINOS GENERALES BUEN LIBRO Evaluación: - Not the best of Brown, but absolutly enjoyableI've read the three major books of Dan Brown and Digital Fortress, among those, Angels and Demons remains my favorite. The Lost Symbol is a good thriller, with the same style of Robert Langdon's adventures. But this one touch a theme that many know a little, therefore the story and discoveries are not that shocking. That said, don't expect mouth opener like Da Vinci Code, or Angels & Demons, but be prepare for some stuff that will keep you reading. 10.
Nana (Spanish Edition)
por: Emile Zola 2002-03 Evaluación Promedio: ![]() Opinión del Usuario Evaluación: - 'Nana' is No Mary Magdalene! If you pick up this novel expecting to encounter a Holy Sinner, a prostitute with a Heart of Gold, you'll be sadly disabused. Anna Coupeau - dite Nana, an actress with no assets except her oozing sexuality - is in fact the granddaughter of Antoine Macquart and appeared as an abused child in Zola's earlier novel L'Assomoir; that's the linkage between this novel and the other nineteen novels of the Rougon/Macquart cycle. Nana is corrupted, odiously selfish, contemptuous of nearly everyone, especially the concupiscent old fools who squander their wealth and health on attempting to bind her to them. Her carnal magnetism is lush enough to dominate men of every rank and age, but (fortunately perhaps) her own willful whimsies and compulsions interfere repeatedly with her bedarkened self-interest. Her rise from gutter-wench to the cynosure of the Parisian demi-monde, and back to the gutter and yet again to palaces, is the narrative thread that holds this novel together, but Nana herself is its subject only ... Leer Más Evaluación: - "Unsurpassable... Straight out of Babylon!"In the guise of a bedroom farce, this book is a critique of the hedonistic world of late 1860s Paris. At the start of the story, the voluptuous and audacious Nana creates a stir in her theatrical debut as Blond Venus, but it is in her real-life role as Paris' most sought after "high-class tart" that she achieves her greatest fame. A cross-section of male society (everyone from a love-sick teenager to an aged marquis), falls for Nana, and her admirers even bump into each other at the doorway of her boudoir as her busy schedule sometimes creates awkward conflicts. "The bedroom was being made into a public right of way," Zola tells us. Nana's antics often had me chuckling in disbelief at her chutzpah and ruthlessness as she discarded one beau after another (after spending all of their money): "A ruined man dropped through her fingers like a ripe fruit, to rot quietly on the ground, by himself." But there is a lot more going on than Nana's prurient misadventures. Zola's goal was to create ... Leer Más Evaluación: - Famous for the wrong reasonsAccording to Zola, the values of society during this time leave much to be desired. The theater owner puts Nana on the stage for her "other good points" rather than her talents. Zola writes, "'Must a woman know how to act and sing? Oh, my chicken, you're too stoopid. Nana has other good points, by heaven!-- something which is as good as all the other things put together. I've smelled it out; it's deuced pronounced with her, or I've got the scent of an idiot'." The audience recognizes she is terrible, but when one member shouts, "Bravo!" the entire city embraces her, even though she has no talent Evaluación: - Nanagreat job sending it right away. I am in the midst of reading it now for my Realism and Impressionism Undergrad Art History course Evaluación: - Unique and surprising - 4.5Well, if there's one thing to be said about "Nana", it's that the book will sure keep you on your toes. With a large and shifting cast of characters (all of whom seem to revolve around, of course, Nana), Zola wrote the first of his novels that I did not immediately love, but a remarkable, disturbing and bizarre book. For those coming from "L'Assommoir", it's easy to remember Nana as the girl who starts out adorable and quickly disappears from her parents' lives. For those who haven't read "L'Assommoir" yet, do so now. It's a great book. As for "Nana", it continues with Zola's incredibly detailed style. This writing, which suited me fine in "L'Assommoir" and in "Germinal" (excellent) suddenly seems to drag a little. "Nana" is wickedly brilliant in all the dialogues and the relationships between people. In between, however, the story slows down, at times almost bogging down. "Nana" presents the highly hypocritical and strange world of the wealthy Parisians at the time of the ... Leer Más |
