Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Probably the Best in the series!
I think this is my favorite book of the series! This is the book where all the stories of the characters really start to come out and the action starts. I really enjoyed getting the back stories of more of the characters. This I think is one of the most entertaining of them all and I would totally recommend it.

Evaluación: 4 out of 5 stars - Loves Triangle
I enjoyed "Eclipse" the best out of the saga. Bella finally comes clean about her feelings for Jacob. Edward & Jacob work together to save Bella.
The danger that comes to Forks & wanting to see who "Bella"chooses makes this a page turner.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Eclipse (3d in the Twilight Series)
I was not certain that Ms. Meyers could continue this story as well she has. While this is the weakest of the books (my opinion), it is still very, very good. Like the other two books, this book is written well and easy to read. It seems to be a trend for me, but I read this book in one day and then read it again the next week, just like the other two. All three are as good the second time around as they are the first. i am highly impressed with Ms. Meyer's ability to continue the story line, answer questions from the previous books and keep you wanting more and more. Very addicting for one who likes to read high quality fiction. Once again, I highly recommend reading this series.

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Kept waiting for Victoria to hurry up and kill Bella
Cons: Sometimes you have to read a book for what it is and stop trying to say what you'd do in that situation. But other times it's very difficult to decipher between the two, and this book was one of those times. I honestly just wanted somebody to kill Bella so she'd stop whining. I don't remember her being this pitiful in the movie, but she was pathetic in the book. She was so glued to Edward's side that I wondered why she didn't ask him to wipe her after she used the bathroom, too. I can't tolerate weak female characters, which is probably why I love Alice, Victoria and Jane so much. They're strong characters who don't take any B.S. from anybody and know how to control themselves. Bella spent 75 percent of the book crying, screaming for Edward, begging for him to be wherever she was, running to hug him, trying to bribe him into having sex with her and manipulating Jacob. She had no outside interests and seemed to live suffocatingly on Earth just to be with Edward...and Jacob. I wanted ... Leer Más

Spoilers and a load of Twilight bashing is ahead

I've hated Twilight forever now. The books are boring and plotless, with no conflicts or no meaning to it. Bella is selfish, whiny, dull, backstabbing, heartless, and as boring as the books are. Edward is a stalker and an obsessive boyfriend. Jacob is love-sick puppy dog with nothing better to do but whine about his non-connection with Bella. Charlie is as dead as the fish he brings home from his endless fishing trips. Renee is airheaded. Every character`has a large amount of flaws to make Bella seemingly perfect despite her rediculous clumsiness.

Eclipse plot- If there even IS a plot here. Bella is supposadly in love with Edward and Jacob. But it is so obvious who she is going to pick this book isnt even needed. Meanwhile, Victoria is putting together a newborn vampire army in order to kill Bella, to get back at Edward for killing James. That of course means every vampire and werewolf in Forks has to protect ... Leer Más

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Frankenstein Opinion
My daughter had to read this book over the summer for a grade in her Honors English class. I liked the fact that it was cheap, but on the other hand, what I paid for shipping I could have went ahead and purchased it out of the store. I wasn't to thrilled about that!

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Mistake below -- This is the BEST edition
There are a gazillion ebook editions of Frankenstein out there. Frankenstein This Penguin Classics version is a fantastic ebook -- not just of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, but I mean the ebook formatting.

First, this is a scholarly edition. It contains so much reference information, it's a history lesson in itself.

It's loaded with linked footnotes that toggle -- click to read the footnote, then click again to be immediately back at your place in the book. Fantastic.

A cheap edition of this book is a waste of your time - plus you would be robbing yourself of the very best an ebook can offer.

I don't know who formatted this edition of Frankenstein -- and just to be sure, it's ASIN: B000OIZT9A -- but they deserve an award.

Evaluación: 2 out of 5 stars - Not brand new, when they said it was new.
The book (that was purchased) wasn't in the condition stated by the seller. I could have bought a better book with the price I paid for this book.

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Sad Story Indeed
The language can be hard to comprehend at times, sometimes because it is truly incoherent or stilted. Even so, there are far more passages that read so well it is like smelling a fragrant flower, the descriptions so clear and detailed yet eloquently stated. However, it's hard to rate this book above three stars because near the end I really had a hard time following it. It seemed the monster had died. Frankenstein came upon a sledge and his nemesis was dead, or so it said. Following that, the plot became nebulous and the passages were so exasperating I skipped many paragraphs until the point where Dr. Frankenstein had died, not the monster. Then I had...the rest of the story. But on the plus side, the plot was not predictable. With so many pluses, and so many minuses, I rate this story three stars.

Perhaps one day we will be able to use DNA material to recreate a Neanderthal, creating a true to life Frankenstenian monster.

My edition was close to the original, ... Leer Más

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - A Gothic Masterpiece.
This haunting masterpiece still reaches new readers every day. I won't go into the details of Shelly's masterpiece in this review, but deal in what I think makes this a timeless classic that hangs on to readers today.

The character of Victor Frankenstein, a man obsessed with making a difference in the studies of life and death. It is his blind devotion to his studies over life and death, that leads to tragedy for his family and friends later in the story. Shelly takes us on a journey that shows us the frailty of our lives and the motives that drive us to achieve no matter the cost. Victor, even though he is a character, is within everyone. He is the blind ambition that throws away love for the sake of fame and immortality, and the utter lack of responsibility for his actions once the deed is done. This character is versatile, because it lingers in people, perhaps even someone you know.

Just as haunting is Victor's creation, the Monster. Racked with questions about his identity ... Leer Más

where to bloody begin.... ah.. in my junior year i and everyone else in class was forced to read the book and watch the horrible origanal slow and boring movie. after we got done with it almost everyone in the whole dang room yelled out that it suck, right at the same time. both this and the great gatsby sucked. but i dd surprisngly enjoyed the great gatsby movie towards the end of it

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Doesn't translate well to modern readers, but is a classic.
I wish that I had been able to read this book as part of a class or a group discussion, as there were many things alien to my time period I should have liked to have had explained to me.
That said, it was an important book to have read, if only to give the reader a picture of what life was like in that time and place.
I think that had I been Hester Prynne, I'd have moved away from that town immediately.

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Just as Expected
Had to have it for summer reading project and this was much easier and faster than going searching for it! Thank you!!

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - One of my least favorite english reads.
Like most people I was forced to read this novel in my English class. While I did enjoy it eventually it does have a very slow beginning. It has a good plot though and is a great way to understand the period in which Hawthorne wrote.
In my opinion this novel has one major flaw; metaphors. Yes most novels employ literary elements yet Hawthorne goes over board. He will give you a metaphor, give you another metaphor the same thing in case you didn't understand the first one; he will then flat out explain what the metaphor was. After a few chapters of this it gets very tedious and continues on through the book. The metaphors are not difficult to understand, yet he will often give long drawn out metaphors that may take over a page.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Of Sin and Secrets
Is "The Scarlet Letter" worthy of being considered a classic? Why do some love it and some hate it? These are questions that played through my mind when I picked up this book. I'm a fan of some of Hawthorne's short stories--"Ethan Brand," "The Bosom Serpent," "Young Goodman Brown," among others--but I found his novel, "The House of the Seven Gables," long and plodding.

Boy, was I in for a surprise!

Yes, this book employs an antiquated style of English dialogue and sentence structure. True, the introductory chapter about the Custom-House can seem tedious. (And, if your edition comes with a modern introduction, please skip it till after you've read the book, since many of these misguided pages give away the book's key twists.) Once I got into the actual story, though, I was hooked. I took my time. I invested in each page, each paragraph, giving myself to the story of Hester Prynne, a woman whose child out of wedlock has revealed her adultery and subjected her with a lifetime of wearing ... Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - There must be something in books
Books are dangerous. They're full of ideas that make people think about the world, feel passion, and perhaps act out. That's not good for society; it causes conflict, uprising, and interference with the status quo. People who read and think scare people who don't, so most citizens have happily given up the right to decide what to think about and now let the government fill their brains with constant loud mindless entertainment. This managed input has equalized society; nobody feels inferior to anyone else and there's no conflict anymore. Dull minds, constant entertainment, and conformity make society run smoothly.

Guy Montag works as a fireman. He burns books at night while his wife sits in her parlor and listens to inane media shows at high volume. But Clarice, the teenager next door, is different. Her family sits around and talks. They discuss things and they laugh with each other. Guy wonders what they talk about as he watches his wife talk to the strangers on TV and pop sleeping pills...

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant, depressing, electrifying, profound!!
Ray Bradbury's books make for immediate, mesmerizing, entirely compulsive reading. His prose is electrifying in its use of poetic metaphor and dramatic syntax. The reader is instantly plunged into an alien culture, or a terrifying future, and is not really released even after the last page is turned.

I had been postponing reading this novel for years. I am, after all, a confirmed bibliophile. Reading a novel with a plot involving the burning of books would, I kept telling myself, be too traumatic for me.

I finally decided to wade in.

Need I say that I only put the book down when I absolutely had to, when reality intruded? The novel carried me along on its relentless wave of narrative. Of course, I tried not to picture the books burning as I read, but Bradbury wouldn't let me. Not when he was describing them as living creatures, dying, their pigeon wings flapping.... The fact that I managed to endure this at all is a real tribute to the greatness of his writing.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - "I hate a Roman named Status Quo!"
This book is all about one man's struggle against the status quo- even more frightening for him because he lives in a world where firemen are not the rescuers but the fire starters. They rush to houses not to put out fires but to burn them, and only those that hold the most heinous crimes against the state- books.

Guy Montag did his duty as a fireman till one day a girl- a free thinker- held a dandelion under his chin and woke him up.

His world turned upside down he made a stand and then had to run for his life- watched all the while by inhabitants of the city glued to their wall tv sets, numbed and dumbed down by the very thing that holds them enthralled.

Yet, Montag makes his escape, becoming more important than he ever could have realized while his world disintegrates around him- literally.

I read Fahrenheit 451 ages ago and it was fun to revisit it with older eyes. I thought I remembered this as a dystopian rant against state run government- perhaps exacerbated ... Leer Más

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Quick shipping - great condition
The book arrived very quickly and was in great condition. Not a whole lot to say about a book but happy with everything!

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Timeless
I just finished reading this book for the third time and it simply gets better with age, like a vintage wine. How can we picture a world where there are no books, particularly novels?

Like most of us on Amazon, I'm a voracious reader and have been since I was in elementary school. Books transport us to another world and allow us to have insight into lives, situations other countries that we may never otherwise experience. Good books pose tough questions about ethics, coping with adversity, and dealing with loss, sorrow or facing hard choices -- for example, Sophie's Choice, when she had to choose between which one of her children she would save from the Nazis.

When I was 19 and I first read this book, I thought it was just about banning books. I didn't fully comprehend the depth of mind control that would be involved in restricting information, and consequently creating a reality that is so sanitized that it bears no resemblance to real life. No wonder people were glued to the flatscreen TVs and ... Leer Más

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - speedy and in good condition
My order got to me very quickly and in better condition than I was expecting.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful, amazing book
Jane Eyre is quite possibly my favorite book ever. And maybe also the best. Of course I've thought each of those things about other books, but very rarely both about the same book. I love this book without any reservations and think it is incomparable. I can't imagine any kind of person who wouldn't enjoy Jane Eyre. Read it.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Woman of Great Importance
Jane Eyre is a masterpiece.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The protagonist, Jane, is narrating her biography, and the chronicle commences when she was ten years old, growing up with her cruel aunt and equally cruel cousins, who make her childhood miserable. She could hardly wait to get out of their grip to a school for orphanages, run by a saintly woman. There she befriends a girl, Amy, a noble and true friend, dying of consumption. Jane thrives in the school, later becoming a teacher for two years.

But the real drama unfolds when she gets a job as a tutor for a young girl, Adel, a protege of Mr. Rochester, a wealthy bachelor. They fall in love and Mr. Rochester proposes marriage. But he forgets to tell Jane a minor point that he was already married to a insane woman, locked up in the same manor! Jane bolts home and a new adventure unfolds, meets her long lost cousins, finds enormous fortune and dodges her cousin's advances to marry and go on to India to preach! She wants none of this austere life. ... Leer Más

This book is a sublime, indeed divine, work of art. To my mind, Charlotte Bronte is second only to Joan of Arc as the greatest heroine ever to walk the Earth.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Great first book
My almost 2 year old loves this book. Personally I really struggled with ever wanting to read this book since it seemed so boring, but its a great first book for the little ones. THey pick up on something different each time. This has been one of our night time favorites and I can see why people love it so much. It took till he was about 15 months before he liked this story, but it is perfect for a kid as early as a year.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Son LOVES this book
I know that this is a popular book, but I was not expecting my son to love it as much as he does. As soon as I incorporated this book into bedtime, all other books sit on the shelf. He usually has me read this story to him 3 or 4 times. And he is trying to say the words with me. Great book and it makes my almost 2 year old smile every time.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - From 1 star to 5 stars.
Upon receiving this book I initially wrote a bad review of it, as the illustrations have a lot to be desired, but after reading it to my son I think it's only fair that I change my feedback. My son just adores this book, and since this book is for him and not me I know he'd give it rave reviews.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - great book to share
I have purchased this book time and time again as a baby shower gift. It is a classic book that I love to share and give as a gift.

Evaluación: 1 out of 5 stars - Over-rated
I am soooo disappointed with this book. After reading all the glowing reviews, I expected more. The story is boring. It just points out various things in a room, then proceeds to say "good night" to all the objects in the room. The illustrations not impressive, and every 2 pages alternate between black/white and color. I've been reading this to my daughter since she was very young (now 14 months old), but she's never really been that interested in it.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Large Book requires adult supervision!
This is a beautiful book, lots of pop ups and intricate detail. however it is not for your little one to read alone, not unless you want your pop ups destroyed. Great visual aids for children if you are reading to them, pricey but a worthwhile investment. If you want a book for your child to read I suggest the board book version of this one.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - good book and service
The little boy who received this book loved it so much. It took a couple of weeks for it to arrive from the time I ordered it, but the child didn't know any better. he was happy. I am too. The seller was gracious-bookseller72135-and e-mailed me about the shipping time right after I ordered. All in all happy people every where.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - Board Book PERFECT Option for Babies
This is a perennial staple in the children's books collection I've amassed over the years.

When my son started showing interest in being read-to, I pulled out my trusty old, paperback version of this book.

BIG NO NO with a teething baby.

Our local children's librarian said that it's a great idea to allow babies to explore 'reading' with all senses, including mouth.

As my little guy liked the imagery enough to eat, I opted for the board version of this book and am VERY pleased with it...so is my baby's hungry little mouth :)

Evaluación: 2 out of 5 stars - Great Book - long wait
I ordered this book as a baby shower gift. I ordered it exactly 10 business days prior to the shower. My book came in 1.5 weeks later. I had to buy a different book at Borders for the shower. This book is great, however - just not getting it almost a month after it is ordered.

Evaluación: 4 out of 5 stars - Pop-up caution
I love this book. I remember it from my childhood and want it for my child. I ordered the pop-up edition and found the pop-up components were already damaged upon delivery. I think some of the pop-ups in this version would not last long with children handling it. I have returned the product and will look for the sturdy board book version with holes.

Purchased the book as in very good condition and it looked excatly how it was descibed, if not even better. Looked new and recieved much quicker than expected.

Evaluación: 3 out of 5 stars - Good book but a little too Pricey.
I am currently using this book for my Spanish 1 and 2 class and it is a help especially the dictionary in the back! I would def recommend getting the lab manual and the workbook with it though because if you are new to the spanish language it can be very difficult to keep up and practice makes all the difference. The book alone is great however the price is a little ridiculous! Especially since spanish varies in every country so some parts of the book are inconsistant with what we are taught and also their are words spelt incorrectly throughout the book. My professor is constantly correcting it.

Evaluación: 4 out of 5 stars - Not perfect, but pretty darn good
This textbook has been excellent in my university classroom. I love the presentation of the material, the matching of grammar with the thematic vocabulary, and the ease of finding topics within the book. It's not perfect--as I don't think any textbook is--but it is definately very good. I have enjoyed teaching from it, although naturally I don't do all of the activities in the book; I pick and choose the ones that I will use in class, and come up with some of my own, creative activities. (Although as a side note, I don't think any teacher should use 100% book activities!)

Evaluación: 1 out of 5 stars - Horrible textbook
This is a horrible textbook to use for teaching an online course. My school uses it, and even after 2 years of Spanish in high school, the material is just way to far out there for most students to grasp easily. It starts out assuming a proficiency with Spanish words and sentence structure. The online portion is done at a normal conversation pace for native Spanish speakers, which is far too fast for this level of textbook. There is no way to slow down, or show textually what is being said on most of these online exercises.

The book is the equivalent of dropping you in the middle of Spain and saying "Figure it out".

I've self taught myself far more difficult languages with less trouble than this book is giving me.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - What a deal!
My daughter's school only sold the materials she needed for her Spanish class as a set over 250.00. We were thrilled that we could order the materials separately at a decent savings! Good news!

Evaluación: 4 out of 5 stars - Very Sweet Book!
I purchased this book for my three-year-old daughter who loves animals and books. I received it within a few days of ordering it, and the book itself is of nice quality and should withstand the test of time! My daughter loves the book, and it does create a very definite sense of happiness and teaches a good lesson. It's about a bull named Ferdinand living in Spain who doesn't want to act like the other bulls by running around and butting heads. Ferdinand likes to sit under a cork tree and smell the flowers. By a funny accident, he is chosen to be a bull featured at the bull fights in Madrid, but he doesn't act the way they expect him to, and there is a nice ending. My only complaint (and the only reason I didn't give it five stars) are because of several lines in the book talking about sticking the bull with sharp objects to make him mad ("Picadores carrying long spikes to stick in the bull and make him madder"), and another line talking about how the Matador carries a sword to stick the bull last of all. My daughter has not ... Leer Más

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - My favourite children's classic
This was and still is my favourite children's book. I have read it to my children and have just ordered some new copies in preparation for my grandchildren as my old copy is looking very tattered by now. It is a heartwarming and inspiring story of the gentle little bull Ferdinand who loved to sit under the cork tree and smell the flowers more than anything else. The bull fight scenes are sensitively handled but if you are terribly politically correct it may be worth reading the book first before reading it to your children.

Evaluación: 5 out of 5 stars - An Ageless Tale

This is a story that was new when Grandma and Grandpa were tykes. It is best read aloud with all of the fun that enunciation can bring to a story. I can still remember my mother reading it to me as a child. Now I can make the story live when I read it to my grandchildren. It is a joy to see the expressions on their faces as the bull wins their hearts. The story has not been altered in the decades since its inception. The definition of a classic is The Story of Ferdinand

Wow, so now previous modeling or modeling agent experience is all I need to be an expert on nutrition and weight loss?! Whoo hoo! Guess I wasted all my time studying human biochemistry & physiology, anthropology, comparative anatomy, botany, psychology & nutrition. Just be 'Kool', swear ALOT and be skinny. Well, if this "speaks" to you - then ya get what you pay for. See ya down the road - w/ cancer, diabetes, anorexia, osteoporosis, osteopenia, Chrone's, leaky gut, rickets, cataracts, Lupus, osteo or rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular disease. And, maybe, you'll even be skinny. I GUARANTEE you will be bitchy. Caveat - don't mistake "entertainment" for the real thing. "There's a sucker born every minute". Adtkins is ALOT closer to the truth than this trick. (This is from a fit, thin, 50+yo physiologist on a high nutrient dense diet who's been around the vegan game & knows how insane it is.) The tough love style of depicting the stomach turning facts of the how the whole meat industry work, the references they quote in everything they wrote is very informative. I suspect some of the one start reviews are written by people who have direct interest or connection with the meat industry (I noticed a lot of the people who gave one star to this book this is the only review they gave in their profile. Evaluación: 2 out of 5 stars - Mixed Emotions
While I do agree with most of the things mentioned in this book. I don't know that it was totally necessary that the writers take the "in your face" approach. I can see why others believe that this is not a good dieting book, and it was misleading since it mentions nowhere that the diet, in order to be a "Skinny Bitch", is to become vegan. I have given it some thought over the years, and if anything this book has made me strongly consider it, but not because of the health aspect. I was literally crying, reading the "You are what you eat" chapter, where they talk about what goes on in the slaughter houses. I think most of us know what occurs in those places, but we don't want to think about it. Rather, we'd prefer to just enjoy our meat and dairy, without considering what happened to the animals who provided it.

So, I am really on the fence on this read. I did think the profanity was offensive. Additionally, many statements, and how they were addressed to the reader were just downright inappropriate at times (and ... Leer Más

This is the worse $12 I have EVER spent! As a marathon runner, extreme healthy eater, personal trainer and someone with a background in healthcare, I was anxious to see what this book had to offer. I forced myself to read to page 64 (thinking it might get better) and eventually had to quit reading. I will not read anymore of this disgusting book and will most likely donate it to a library. The information is completly bogus!! After reading only 3 chapters, I discovered that coffee, milk, protein, and all meat is bad for me.....seriously?? I was shocked at the completly untrue information in this book. I think I will continue to follow my own knowledgable eating habits and stay far, far away from what these women have written.
